The Costa Tropical is between the Costa del Sol and the Costa de Almería on the Granada coast. The municipality of Almuñécar is located in this unique Mediterranean enclave and it is one of the most beautiful and important coastal towns in the province due to its natural characteristics: La Herradura. A lovely bay that is closed in by two small headlands: The Mona Point in the east and Cerro Gordo in the west.
La Herradura is a little piece of land open to the Mediterranean which, like the rest of the coast, has a beauty and micro-climate that are unique in the country, which justifies its name; Costa Tropical. The climate is actually subtropical, as there is very little humidity. The sea breeze makes the suffocating summer heat disappear and the coastal mountain range protects it from the winter cold.
